Linked chronicle page: Session 011 - The Hag of the Passage and the Lady of the Well
Millicent returns (Madoc + white stag vision)
Millicent catches up to the Kenroi. She reports:
- Prince Sir Madoc gravely injured by a manticore
- a woman dressed in white riding a white stag with glowing antlers
- Millicent was accompanied by Brother Maynard (priest) while bringing Madoc to safety
Hag chamber
- Sir Kenian leads into rooms; loud snoring.
- Liam puts a dagger to a sleeping old woman’s throat; she does not stir.
- Millicent yells; the hag opens one eye — goat eyes. Liam freezes in terror.
- Hag claws at Kenian; Kenian’s sword hits like striking a tree.
- A druid appears in the corridor.
- As the hag lunges for Lycus, Lycus spears her through the heart; a snake-like tongue unrolls.
- Liam severs the hag’s head.
Druid fight
- The druid tries glamour on Millicent; she resists.
- Lycus bashes the druid with a flaming quarterstaff; Aspara hits from behind; Kenian strikes; Millicent finishes.
- Liam opens the hag’s locked “underwear chest” and claims it.
War-room map
They find sleeping mats and a table with wine skins and a gladius. A map accurately shows Uther’s troop dispositions — evidence of spying. They take it.
Ambush room
Double doors open into ambush: kerns, cambrians, bandits behind barricades.
- Kenian and Liam lead.
- Millicent strikes over Kenian’s shoulder to mortally wound the last kern blocking the corridor.
- Bandit archers in corners; two cambrian longbowmen in a side corridor; they are all cleared.
Merlin in a cage
They find Merlin/Merdwyl caged. He warns of “red sorceresses” and urges them to leave. They ignore him.
Red cultists → undead → sorceress
- Red cultists at a tight T-intersection; Millicent squeezes in to engage; Kenian chops one’s head; Lycus/Aspara flank and finish.
- Then undead knights appear (knightly tabards), and a breathtakingly beautiful woman.
- Liam is entranced, thinks she’s an angel; snaps back when bitten.
- Spears seem ineffective; Liam’s sword works.
- Kenian becomes entranced; Aspara knocks the sorceress out from behind.
They bag her head and bring her to Merlin. Merlin says they captured him to interrupt the King’s plans for Britain.
The flooded shrine and the Lady
They find a flooded ancient shrine with a well and a pile of treasure. They explore a soot-covered smithy with strange four-toed tracks; follow them toward a hatchery and suspect Dverga.
Back at the well:
- Kenian asks for his horse; the lady says she doesn’t have it.
- Liam asks for fame and success; the lady offers it for a price: Liam must return one day before his death and give back what was granted.
- Liam accepts; takes a chest of rubies.
