Easter court We have just brought the lady Ellen back to Sarum. It is the first time that her and Roderick have met, they will be learning about each other during the feast that’s been called. King Uther and the Duke Erof of Cornwall is in attendance. Other notables are the Baroness Pomponia from the Frankish part of the Saxon shore, on the other side of the channel, with a four year old boy in tow, Archbishop Dubricus of (head of British Christendom) and Prince Madoc, who is to be knighted. Millicent smiles broadly at everyone at the table, showing off her gold tooth she definitely spent a prestige point on to get her app back to 15 for the geniality cards. Drustin’s trencher mate seems sad and lonely. His attempt to cheer them up is interpreted as flirtatious. Oh well. Millicent attempts to flirt with Madoc. “HAIL MADOC! HOW’S THE WOUND FROM THE BEAST?”, she exclaims as she shows off her gold tooth. Drustin, Liam and Asterius note that there is a stream of daggers flying into millicent’s back (figuratively) from the far table, coming from a Lady Rhianneth. She is the wife of the much older KC Marius from Caerwent. The prince fistbumps Millicent in response to her exclamations. The host calls a hunt. All agree to attend. The mead is gone – no other adversity. Liam attempts to chat up Lady Dilwen, whom he recognizes as the daughter of the Baron of Swaddlingcock, as she has heavy tracts of land. His attentions are rebuffed. Millicent whispers that it is probably magic holding up her clothes. Liam agrees. Geraint approaches Lady Rachel (the ox-pisser herself), whom he recognizes as the only sister of Sir Ector of Caer Bannog in the Cambrian mountains. She was a lady-in-waiting for lady Ellen. He tries to regale her with tales of our recent adventures. All his companions watch closely, as they have been friendly with Rachel for a while. Pomponia comes forward with the four year old child named Lucius who apparently is to be knighted by King Uther. This vexes Drustin – he has been through a lot to earn his knighthood and now it is just handed out to this child? Liam thinks UIther is using knighthood for a political ploy, he does not really care. Millicent also thinks it is a political move, but she does not think it is a good choice by the King. Assterius does not think it is his to judge. Geraint does not second guess Uther either. After he is knighted, Uther and Dubricus anoint him Duke of the Saxon Shore and proclaims his aunt regent.

Roderick comes by our table to ask about our passions. Drustin talks about lady Ellen and cloaks his own adoration in such a way that Roderick does not feel threatened. He considers Drustin’s words as praise for him as well.

Millicent attempts to introduce herself to Rhianneth who curtly tells her that this table is above her station and to return to the squires. Asterius accidentally cuts his hand playing a knife game. Drustin stems the bleeding. A knight asks Drustin to be introduced to his friends. He agrees. Liam approaches Ellen to talk about the fight with the Ogre – she is very impressed by his bravery. He does get the feeling she is being forced into something against his will, but does not share this with anyone else at this point. Millicent approaches Madoc who tells her that he looks forward to the next time they might go riding together. He is flirting and Rhianneth is giving the evil eye. She gives her a look as she settles back down. Millicent leans over to Drustin: “She has her eyes on Madoc! I think she’s married too”

"We must keep a wary eye on that two timing skank wagon", Drustin replies.

Drustin gives some alms to the poor. Millicent is asked to tell a story to the high table, and she recounts retrieving the holy shield of St Crispin on the way to lift the Irish siege of Sarum. Ellen walks past and praises Sir Gerrys looks. As she leaves, Drustin hears a hushed argument at the end of the table. He ignores this and attempts to approach Ellen, incensed by the compliment she gave Gerry, but on the way he is driven half-mad by his adoration and lumbers away from the feast hall. Liam follows and shakes him out of his spiral, bringing him back to sanity and the hall with a peptalk (aimed at Sir Gerry!). Millicent gives him a water and takes away his ale as he sits back down. Millicent finds out that Pomponia might seek allies to protect her from King Clovis of the Salian Franks. Asterius tries to throw some hidden shade at Rhianneth and seeks inspiration from loyalty to companions – but it comes across as flirting! Sir Marius, her husband, immediately challenges him to a duel at dawn and throws down the gauntlet! Asterius accepts, choosing pistols at dawn. He thinks the Britons are far too literal, no appreciation for hidden meanings. He’ll teach this hairbag some appreciation for the written arts (even though he is wounded) Geraint talks with Rachel about faeries, she seems very well versed in the ways of the fae.

We all take a walk through the garden at Sarum between courses. We hear a couple of people talking. Asterius is melancholically disinterested (no one understands his poetry!). Liam follows him, having made it his mission to keep an eye on and supporting the melancholically inclined. Drustin, Millicent and Gerry remain to investigate. They see Rhianneth holding Madoc by the collar. He protests and says that she is married and he has no interest. Geraint intercepts her husband Sir Marius as he searches for his wife. Gerry tries to warn his companions by talking very loudly, but neither of them notice. He then tries to distract Marius by talking about the constellations and how they might appear in Caerwent. Marius replies that he actually is from Carduel originally, to which Gerry enthusiastically and loudly proclaims his excitement. As he does, Rhianneth forces a kiss on Madoc. Satisified, Millicent and Drustin retire from their peeping spot in the bushes and meet Marius and Gerry. Drustin slurs out that the wife he seeks might be in the hedges and points over his shoulder. Sir Marius and Liam encounter ASSterius as he is relieving himself in the corner of the hedge maze. Marius starts to unload insults. Assterius reBUTT his arguments. All have returned to the feast hall. Drustin attempts to talk “at a lady” and Liam attempts to talk to the Duke of Cornwall. Attempts. Millicent talks about valour with some knights, she impresses them. Rhianneth approaches Asterius and informs him of a weakness in her husband’s fighting stance. As she leaves, a guest is about to take a seat above their station. Asterius cruelly revels in this simple faux pas, finding it the epitome of hilarity. His moods are improved. Gerry keeps talking to Rachel, whom he finds quite attractive (16 app). He flirts with her, but they do not go into the hedge maze as Gerry holds to his chastity. Drustin goes to the Archbishop as he’d like a little reassurance from him in his melancholic state and a renewal of his faith. He supplicates himself before the AB:s great wisdom, who says that what he needs to do is to follow commandments of the Lord and his lord. Dubricus has heard that he is a great knight and advises him that he needs to marry to be more grounded. He counsels that Drustin’s worldly infatuation with Ellen might be why he feels melancholic and advises him to let it go. He introduces him to Lady Triamors, the heiress of Lickeyend. He does not find her attractive (like Ellen) and rejects the Archbishops advice. “NO, No, NO! - Forgive me father, for I need true love that speaks to my heart!” he says as he spurs the poor lady Triamors. Liam flirts with the Lady Bella of Strathmore. She remains unimpressed.

Millicent flirts with Madoc again. Asterius deceitfully accepts praise meant for another. Gerry dances with Rachel, they enjoy themselves. Drustin agrees to look after another knight’s daughter. The knight happily brings over Lady Tryamors! Liam is accused of lacking passion, he refutes this by talking of Uther. Millicent keeps flirting with Madoc, making dagger-eyes at Rhianneth. Rhianneth seems upset, but she still seems smugly sure that her plans are going to come together. She asks Asterius to not kill her husband. Drustin rebuffs the poor Tryamors again, who he had agreed to entertain, in favour of another lady that offers to spruce up his clothing, Lady Wulfrun. Liam silently voices his discontent with Drustin’s behaviour. Drustin games with Ector, who is highly skilled. Liam tries to gamble with Lambert, who beats him. We see that Rhianneth notices her husband enter the hall and she plops herself down on Asterius lap in an overly obvious fashion. Marius demands satisfaction NOW! Millicent attempts to intervene to explain that his wife is evil and that she is quite clearly plotting, but the man will not have it. Asterius and Marius meet each other in armor at the dueling grounds. Millicent asks Madoc to intervene, but he says that he does not think that he has legal authority as the duelists close. Madoc raises his hand to say something just as Asterius decapitates Sir Marius in one stroke. Lady Rhianneth cackles in the background and saunters onto the dueling grounds in a burnsian manner.

Next year, we start the Saxon campaigns! It’s good that you put written lines in the chat!!
