Session 007 — Player Synopsis — 481 “Nightly Business”
Additional feast notes: Session 007 — Player Notes Addendum — Feast Highlights
Wyvern is injured — flies off. The army retreats, HK promises knighthood. We have the time to convalesce (?) and the opportunity to return the shield. Millicent, Drustin and Liam return the shield. An angel appears to take it back — the squires find their devotion to God increasing.
Pre-knightly vigil
Asterius stays awake, but no spiritual awakening. Beonred cares not for vigils and goes celebrating! He gets suitably inebriated. Drustin stands on tradition and attempts the vigil — he gets a good nights (knights!?) sleep. Liam feels extra religious after seeing the angel and takes the vigil. Millicent, similarly inspired, takes the vigil, she is uncannily energized but neither squire find themselves as spiritually inspired after a sleepless night.
The High King stands before us with his runed sword Excalibur. He gives each the knightly oath, dubs us and bid us to leap onto our new chargers. Drustin, Liam and Millicent manages the leap, the injured Asterius and the still inebriated Beon find themselves in the dirt. Millicent sees that her new charger is of a rare snow coloring, usually reserved for nobility. We assume it is a gift from the King himself and she names her “Kingsgift”. We are granted positions as household knights in the King’s own household. Not everyone knighted on this day is so honored. We do not have any direct allegiance to Earl Roderick, some of us retain loyalty to him regardless.
Lady Ellen’s father the newly knighted baron of Wynchbank was killed on the field. The High King has thus taken wardship of the Lady Ellen — meaning the potential suitors Liam and Drustin will in fact be in much closer proximity to her than our previous lord Roderick! The interested parties may “smoke” that as they wish.
Intermission — (Learned discussions on the merits of Yacht Rock — Jessica pledges to watch a Knight’s tale)
At the feast, Earl Roderick asks Millicent her opinion on Lady Ellen. She tells him that Ellen would be a good fit, she is capable and popular. Liam also recommends a match. Drustin concurs about the match, but adds a warning that she might be too headstrong and independent. Beonred agrees. Asterius composes an encouraging poem, but Roderick instead seems a bit frightened.
