Where we left off (end of Session 022)

The conroi emerges from the underworld route and finds squires and horses waiting near Caerleon—who insist that only ~7–7.5 hours have passed since the party descended. This clashes with the party’s lived experience and sharpens the sense that the Exit is warping time and memory. The squires also insist that Wells was burned in the war, a claim treated as unreliable testimony / glamour rather than confirmed fact.

With grievous wounds now pressing on the surface, the conroi heads to [Caerleon] and has the knights treated with chirugery. Liam hires a chirurgeon immediately (at his expense), hoping to stave off future death. The conroi then turns toward the next hard lead: the old roman copper mine near Caerwent, where Merlin was said to be found (by the people in the future)

Within the mine, the conroi battles small green sling-creatures whose spiked shots spawn new bodies when they draw blood. They discover the creatures’ blood has a restorative/healing property, and some is collected. Deeper still, they find Merlin encased in crystal, preserved but unreachable—guarded by a dragon. The conroi withdraws without fighting and resolves to regroup. (The GM made it clear that fighting the dragon head on is certain death)

Immediate fallout

  • Exit anomaly: emergence near Caerleon + only ~7–7.5 hours elapsed per the squires. (different timeline?)
  • Distortion flag: squires insist Wells burned (treated as unreliable testimony).
  • Chirurgery secured: grievous wounds addressed immediately, hired a chirurgeon.
  • Caerwent mine: hostile ecology (blood-spawning slingers) + healing blood collected.
  • Merlin located (again): now imprisoned in crystal.
  • Dragon obstacle: a dragon guards Merlin; the party retreated to plan.

Next session questions

  • What is causing the missing time / exit mismatch, and what else changes while you are “gone”?
  • What does the “Wells burned” claim signify (glamour, lie, timeline rewrite, mistaken identity)?
  • How do you approach Merlin + the dragon (bypass, bargain, ally, prepare a dragon-slaying plan)?
  • Is the mine’s healing blood safe—or cursed, addictive, finite, or attention-drawing?
